FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions that may be helpful to you
Whenever you realize that you are suffering, feeling uneasy, or unable to solve your problems, the sooner you access **mental health** care, the faster you will feel better. Therefore, try to observe these three signs indicating that it is time to seek help from a **mental health** professional:1. You are facing problems that cause significant distress, impacting your daily life or work. For example, you may have difficulty concentrating, lack your usual enthusiasm, lose motivation to complete tasks, or avoid social interactions.2. You have tried various methods to alleviate your discomfort, but nothing has helped improve your **mental health**. For instance, even after talking to friends, exercising, or reading self-help books, feelings of frustration or emotional baggage persist.3. You begin to rely on other substances or behaviors to cope with heavy-heartedness or stress, such as alcohol, smoking, changes in eating habits, excessive use of online media, or turning to gambling.
Yes, it absolutely does. Today, extensive research confirms that psychotherapy is a highly effective treatment. Speaking with a trained and experienced professional psychotherapist—who has successfully supported clients facing similar challenges—can help you recognize and understand certain life patterns that may be the root cause of your distress. This newfound self-awareness empowers you to make meaningful, positive changes in your life. However, in some cases, psychotherapy may need to be combined with medication to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Both medication and psychotherapy are effective in treating mental health conditions, but the appropriate treatment approach depends on the nature of your specific concerns. Research indicates that a combined approach of medication and psychotherapy is often the most effective treatment, particularly for severe conditions or symptoms. Medication helps alleviate symptoms, while the psychotherapy process provides a safe space for clients to explore themselves, gain deeper self-understanding, recognize their limitations, and identify their coping mechanisms. This integrated approach facilitates faster healing and delivers long-lasting results. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, you can always consult your psychiatrist or psychotherapist to determine the best course of care for you.
Psychotherapy is beneficial for both individuals and couples who are experiencing stress, coping with life changes, or noticing shifts in their emotions or behaviors. There is still a common misconception in society that only those suffering from mental disorders, such as depression, anxiety, or other psychiatric conditions, should seek psychotherapy. Understanding a patient's life story is crucial in the treatment process because psychiatric care involves more than just diagnosis and medication; it requires comprehending each patient’s unique experiences and emotions. Gaining insight into a patient's life story helps clinicians identify the problems and challenges they face in daily life, which are significant factors affecting their mental health.Furthermore, understanding a patient's life story enables clinicians to build a strong therapeutic relationship. This makes patients feel supported and understood in what they are going through. Building this trust is vital for treatment, as patients who feel understood and accepted are more willing to open up about their issues and cooperate effectively in their care.Additionally, understanding a patient's life story allows clinicians to design more personalized treatment plans by considering various factors influencing mental health, such as social environment, family dynamics, and past experiences. All these elements impact the development of psychiatric conditions and future mental recovery. Therefore, understanding a patient's life story is a critical first step in treatment, helping them overcome life obstacles more effectively.

Being a good psychotherapist involves several key factors, which can be summarized from the extensive experience and philosophy of Tassaya Ruangsri, a psychotherapy expert with over 20 years of practice.First, a psychotherapist must possess profound self-awareness. Recognizing and understanding one's own emotions, feelings, and experiences enables a deeper, more empathetic understanding of the client. Being attuned to one's own subconscious allows the therapist to clearly perceive what the client is truly attempting to communicate.Second, maintaining an open mind for continuous learning and self-development is crucial. Psychotherapists should actively pursue further education in related disciplines, such as play therapy, which enhances their ability to work effectively with diverse client groups. Finally, building strong therapeutic relationships and practicing active, empathetic listening are top priorities. Working with each individual is both fascinating and challenging. Therapists must be skilled in cultivating a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel completely comfortable opening up about their inner feelings and experiences.Through deep self-awareness, a commitment to continuous learning, and the cultivation of strong therapeutic relationships, psychotherapists can effectively support their clients and facilitate genuine, lasting psychological healing.
