Art Psychotherapist

When asked in childhood what do you want to be when you grow up? Probably not an art therapist. A career that few people know and understand. On the road to the day, Nicha Leehacharoenkul or Fei chose to use artistic talent to help sustain the suffering in the people's hearts. It is a journey through a long day and so much to learn.

From a child of Art-Math, Fei found fun in the drama activities at the Faculty of Fine Arts from the past. Thammasat University Besides analyzing her favorite characters, Fei was also more eager to know and understand humans. Therefore, choosing to study a minor subject in psychology at the same time. A life path would have diverted Fei from going to the magazine for a few years when he joined HIV-positive children and adolescents and their families as a long-time research assistant and assistant to lead the drama process. For more than seven years, Fei has witnessed the pain and stigma of people living with HIV. He also became seriously interested in mental health and mental comprehension work. Until finally decided to pursue a master's degree in mental health at Chulalongkorn University

But Fei's path of learning psychology did not end there. When she helped the drama therapy group with a senior, Fei was interested and wanted to pursue a specific course in psychotherapy, suitable for the opportunity to receive a scholarship from The Red Pencil Humanitarian Mission to study art therapy at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. It was there that Fei found that ' art therapy ' was right for her. With the basis of life that wants to know the complexity of people's minds Work that opened up space for her to listen to Understand the story And have helped others Therefore corresponds to the interests that have only had children

Since 2016, Fei has resumed his career as an art therapist at a public hospital. This work allows her to learn many areas of her life and see, "Life is beautiful. Despite adversity or hardship, it goes through many struggles, but in the end, each life has its integrity. ”Seeing the change in the care providers, she was always impressed and satisfied.

“The impression of this work may be just a small moment in my mind to see that He has changed, for example, from not daring to make decisions or do things he didn't think he could do. Just this, we are happy. ”Fei explained.

When you find the right job, Fei is determined to become a psychotherapist based on his belief that a good psychotherapist qualification is to be a good listener, empathetic, not judgmental, a person who motivates or encourages clients to realize understand themselves. Until you can see the choices in making your own life decisions And most importantly 'Can live with more limits and challenges'

"In work, when we began to observe that I am living with ignorance. It may even be shaky or frightening in the senses. But it allows thinking Have learned mistakes He's also careful and keeps improving himself, ”said Fei, reasoning that Although psychotherapy is a job that requires listening to others primarily, sometimes there is excellent support from the Supervisor that she can continue to discuss exchange ideas. It allows the work to improve and develop gradually.

At work today, Fei always had an essential sentence in his life as a psychotherapist recited in his heart. This phrase, Fei, was remembered by American psychiatrist Irvin D. Yalom, MD, and it was a sentence that helped her keep her hopes of traveling with the client: “A good therapist. seeks illuminations, I'm a guide on this voyage of self-exploration. "
